Subversive
I have exhibited a collection of photographs based on subversive nature. My FMP is highly inspired by the photographer Polly Brown who uses still life and documentary photography to represent a style like no other photographers. Within my work, I have explored a new style of photography and leaned into photography that necessarily wouldn’t be considered professional, hence my theme of subversive. I also have analyzed all my images and even displayed  my photos which I didn’t like to show my progress. My images, I feel, empower that sense of unusual and messy into a normalized fashion whilst still keeping the appreciation for things that aren’t typically considered proper in society. My images are displayed in a series of each photoshoot, which I decided to do because I felt this clearly presents my work and by splitting the photos up it brings separation to each meaning of the photoshoots. I mainly focussed on film photography for this project because I feel film is authentic and also is a perfect fit for my theme as you only get a few chances to capture your photos, meaning you have the possibility to have an unexpected outcome.

We are stronger together

This is a piece about the Geek community and how no matter what we go through we’ll always stand strong together and come out stronger then ever. I hope to show that the Geek community isn’t what people think it is and that some of the kindest people you can find are in this community.

Tribalism In Football
I have exhibited a collection of digital and film photos  which represent different aspects of cultures and tribalism in football. With my  theme being Football, I have explored different ways to show how culture in football differs from other cultures. I have  not only created one way to prove this in my work but also by using different subcultures such as fashion. I took my photos using Kodak Gold 200 as well as my Cannon 1300D, using these two different cameras gave me a selection of different types of footballs to choose from. I gathered inspiration for my project from a “Zine” called “Woolsworth All Or Nothing”, for this the creator of the Zine used a disposable camera to show off the traditional pub/sunday league team, after seeing this I knew that I wanted to do this. I tried to create a film filter on my digital photos which is why some look grainy and have a red/yellow tint to them.

REFLECTIONS

I have exhibited a piece of photography work which represents belonging to more then one subculture. With my theme being tribes and cultures , i have researched into the history of different subcultures, like goth and emo , and have styled different outfits surrounding these subcultures. The mirror represents that sometimes you look into a mirror and see someone else , even though you’re looking at you in the mirror. The size of my paper is used so you can see into the mirror and see the expressions on the person. I chosen to have some darker lighting , showing that the person in the image may be feeling sad or emotional in some sense.

90s Women’s, Fashion Magazine (GETTIN’ JIGGY’)

I have exhibited a 90s, women’s, fashion magazine, called GETTIN’ JIGGY. The name of my magazine is inspired by the Actor, Film Producer, and musician, Will Smith. Inside GETTIN’ JIGGY, I have created a series of photographs, with models wearing the 90s, modenised, clothing style, portraying how the culture of the 90s fashion, has taken a full circle, and returned in the 21s century. The magazine is split into two halves, with Part 1, taken inside the Suffolk New College studio, using my Canon 2000D, and Part 2, in the style of Street photography, photographed along Ipswich Waterfront, using a Pentax P30T 35mm film camera. Showing how the technology of cameras has evolved over the past 30 years. I decided to create a magazine, as I thoroughly enjoy the last project, making my own style of the International magazine company, ‘The Aesthetica Magazine’. I was able to let my creativity run wild, and I wanted to do the same with my 90s, Women's Fashion Magazine.

Into The Botanist’s Garden.

I have exhibited a collection which contains all angles of living plants which represent different aspects of a Botanists culture. With my  theme being The Culture of Botany, I have explored different ways to  create a vision of a different plant’s structures and with these exhibited pieces I have not only created a fact from science but also provided many pieces of fine art. The Negative space on the images to reflect the importance and structure of the main focal point and the outstanding textures to signify the living life the plant contains. While the Botany photographs reflect the importance and structure that pants are remembered for, It also contains the beauty and meanings. The quality on the IPAD allows the texture of the plants to pop out on all of the images. Displaying the pieces as a collage on an instagram account will allow all my viewers to see each and every piece of my work as not just photography but as a piece of science too.

Historical buildings of Ipswich

I have created a series of pictures including 3 films and 3 digital photographs. They include historical buildings of Ipswich (St Lawrence Church, The Ancient House, St Peter’s). They are black and white photographs, representing the old times of Ipswich. For context, Covid had a massive impact on the amount of customers in Ipswich town center as well as several businesses. With my photograph, I am remembering the beauty of Ipswich to hopefully draw people back in and celebrate the reopening of our town as well as appreciating small businesses who suffered during the pandemic. The film photographs are experimentation outcomes, where I tried to burn and bleach the film, hopefully getting unique and interesting results. As of the digital photographs, I used photoshop to create double exposures and experiment with other features. Because they are all fine art photographs, I referred to black and white photography, because it gives them a classical feeling and captures a timeless moment. We all see the world in color but when it is removed, we tend to pause and look more closely.

WHO AM I?

I have exhibited a collection of digital and analog images. With my  theme being tribes and cultures, I have explored different ways to  explore subcultures and with these exhibited pieces I have not only created a selection of portrait and landscape but also provided context to each piece. My digital images reflect the image of my analog images as they are both in the same place meaning 2 images go together with each other with all 4 also going together in a different way. The 4 separate images right next to each other in a way where they could be one piece of paper represents being apart of a family yet not really belonging apart of anything. Displaying the images in a rectangular shape represents being separate yet so close to feeling apart.

 Car Culture

I have exhibited a collection of photos  which represent different aspects of how people that attend car meets aren't all bad. With my  theme being the views on car meets , I have shown lots of different cars and how people could possibly view their car. There are lots of different views and people can view car meets and the  car culture. People can view car culture as a bad way but my work shows that not everyone in the car scene are bad.

Crystal Insight

I have exhibited a collection of photographs which show my theme of crystals. As my theme is crystals I explored crystal photographers and commercial photographers. I explored different ways to show the product and these images show the ways I came up with. The white clear quartz against the black shirt goes really well to make the quartz stand out.  The clear quartz is in the shape of a heart which shows that it helps the heart to grow and enhances creativity.

A Man's Best Friend

A dog - My project focuses on the emotional expressions of the various breeds of dogs. I captured mainly close-up facial shots, in hope to get the best expressions. However, some breeds needed a full body shot in order to understand the animal’s behaviour. Inspired by Ellliot Erwitt I have taken my images in everyday situations. With coloured images and a few black and white.

For my…

I chose to  exhibit a series of photographs that illustrate different tattoos with meanings and a little text next to each photograph to help understand the tattoo and the meaning. Because my main theme was “Tattoos culture” I have researched different tattoo styles and different ways to shoot tattoos, I have resarched the history and meaning of each one of the tattoos that i shoot to help me understand it better and be able to express it in my work. I am presenting them as a series of 6 images that are related by the fact that they are a “reminder”. I chose to let them be colourfull for the ink to be visible but to not look harsh. The size that I chose is A3 paper for the details to be visible.
